A large District with a small community feel.
The Middle Country Central School District serves the Villages and Hamlets of Centereach, Selden, parts of Lake Grove, Coram, Lake Ronkonkoma, Port Jefferson Station and Farmingville. In terms of area, the District covers approximately 16 square miles.
The Mission of the District is to empower and inspire all students to apply the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to be creative problem solvers, to achieve personal success and to contribute responsibly in a diverse and dynamic world.
The Middle Country School District has an enrollment of 10,840 students (2015-2016 school year).
The District has two high schools, two middle schools, eight elementary schools, two Pre-K/Kindergarten centers, and an alternative learning center and career academy:

The District has a nine-member Board of Education. The District’s Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Roberta Gerold, has served in this capacity since July, 2006. In addition to being the educational and administrative leader of the District, Dr. Gerold is a past president of the Suffolk County School Superintendents Association.
